Science
Santa Fe Public Schools commits that all students PreK-12 have access to high quality science educational opportunities and materials, aligned to the NM STEM Ready! Science Standards. This includes the horizontal and vertical alignment of elementary, middle and high school curriculum. In collaboration with community partners, we provide learning tools, strategies and professional development to support teachers, instructional coaches and administrators, while promoting the use of data to make continuous improvements in instructional practices. Preparing our students for 21st Century college and career opportunities is our top priority.
Technology
The SFPS Technology Team supports the district by providing technology-related services and support for students, teachers and staff. We are committed to developing and maintaining a learning culture and to continually fostering improvement. As we maintain and improve today's technology services, we also envision and create the information technology portfolio that will best meet future needs.
Mathematics
In preparing students for 21st Century jobs, SFPS is focused on students learning to use higher order thinking skills, implementing the common core instructional shifts and standards of mathematical practice to gain a deeper understanding and application of what is being taught. As part of this initiative teachers are implementing notebooks/journals for students to solve real-world problems and to reflect on their thinking. In collaboration with Carnegie Learning, an innovative, research based company founded by cognitive and computer scientists from Carnegie Mellon University and practicing mathematics teachers, SFPS is providing professional development, coaching opportunities and curriculum alignment.
Art
The SFPS Art Department provides an exceptional, comprehensive, standards-based program of art education to K-12 students in Santa Fe Public Schools. We prepare children and youth for college, career, and/or lifelong engagement with the arts. We know that art and design thinking promotes 21st Century skills including problem-solving, planning, testing and reflecting. We support and advocate for technology in art studios to be an integral part of hands-on learning that engages meaningful themes.
